What is Ballet?
Ballet is an artistic dance form performed to music. Classical ballet, is characterised by light, graceful movements and the use of pointe shoes with reinforced toes as the student progresses. Children and students attending classes at WADPA can be confident to achieve a comprehensive, well-structured and relevant ballet education. We teach according to safe teaching principles and evaluate our students through progressively built examinations.
Who can do this class?
Anyone can do it! Classical is so good for you; you learn control, grace, discipline and strength as you progress through the structured BTDA* examination system. WADPA encourages the students to achieve their personal best in the understanding, appreciation and performance of classical ballet.
*BTDA is an international awarding body for classical ballet
What age group is this class for?
We have classes at WADPA from the age of 2.5 years up until adult. Melody Movement is our pre-school class.

Which syllabus do we teach at WADPA?
At WADPA, we teach classical (BTDA, NZAMD & RAD Syllabus) grades from preparatory to advanced 2 and diploma level. Some junior classes use the rosette pre-grades available through the NZAMD Syllabus. RAD advanced 2 classes are available on request.
